Experts in church development say that it may take up to four years for a congregation to fully recover from a major conflict or trauma in the church.  Three years after Katrina, while full of energy and dedication, First Church is still in a rebuilding and recovery mode.  Donations to First Church's Operating Fund keep the church afloat, running programs, doing ministry in the wider community, educating our children and youth as religious liberals, and providing high quality worship services Sunday after Sunday.  We are grateful for all gifts,  in whatever amounts, from members, friends, and alumni and partners outside the city. 

Since our physical plant is in so much need, we also appreciate gifts to our shared Greater New Orleans UUs (GNOUU) Capital Campaign, which go to the recovery of First Church's campus, the rebuilding of a sanctuary for Community Church, and retiring an onerous mortgage for North Shore.
